Anji Logistics USA Inc. started operations two weeks ago in its new North American headquarters at 13301 Stephens Road in Warren.
Anji Logistics USA Inc. chose metro Detroit for its North American headquarters because the city is among "the most important auto centers in the world," company president Weigang Allan Chen told Crain's.
The company, founded two months ago under China-based parent Anji Automotive Logistics Co., started inbound logistics work in the new Warren-based headquarters on Feb. 10.
The subsidiary Anji USA signed a long-term lease in January for the 154,000-square-foot industrial building and distribution facility at 13301 Stephens Road.
Anji USA is still in the set-up phase, Chen said. Business has progressed quickly, though, as renovation was not required for the move-in.
Office staff will move from a temporary location in Birmingham to the Warren facility's 12,000 square feet of office space on March 15.
The company did not release the cost of the lease, plans for expansion or names of its biggest customers.
The building, Anji USA's first official location in the U.S., will house 10 employees after the move. The company aims to hire about 10 more by the end of the year, Chen said.
Livonia-based Schostak Brothers & Co. Inc. owns the space. The company was represented by New York City-based Newmark Grubb Knight Frank in the sale announced Feb. 10.
